What do you see?

More than Me

I could be in the form of cerebral palsy.

I could be in the form of muscular dystrophy.

I could be in the form of a learning issue.

I could be in the form of something not mentioned here.

What am I?

I am a disability.

And I hope you don’t focus on me too much.

Because I am not the person who matters!

The topic matters because people with disabilities like to travel.

How do I know this?

The answer is simple: I am a wheelchair user who enjoys traveling.

A Best Friend Named Jay

It is just a letter to some people.

It is short for Jason.

Thankfully, it reminds me of someone special.

This person has touched my heart.

He gave me the gift of friendship.

October 7, 2001, God called Jay home.

In death, God gave Jay the greatest gift of all.

God lifted Jay from the chains of muscular dystrophy.

Today, Jay’s cross is buried in heaven.

In the end, there could not be a better blessing for such a wonderful friend.

Normal

I smile when necessary.

I joke with people.

I laugh on a regular basis.

I cry when needed.

I read to learn.

I write to express my thoughts.

I exercise at a gym.

I love a woman.

I dream about my future.

I drive a van.

I crawl at home.

I walk with help.

I push my wheelchair.

I live life.

I am normal.

Note: The poem is not new. However, I think the piece has an important message.
